PL30/F4

SPORTS | PL30 | PL30/F4 | Non PURVIS EUREKAS

A number of the PL30 models were factory fitted with a Ford 1600 cc engine for improved performance and reduced noise, and a new F4 (ie Ford 4 cylinder) model was eventually introduced. The F4 had a new flatter rear engine panel, and round headlights (mainly due to the rarety of rectangular), as the main distinguishing features. Not so obvious is an indent built into the body around the roofline which was designed to improve the fit of the closed roof, and reduce weather and noise concerns. Other design changes (in the deepening of the body tub), resulted in a further 1.5 inch increase in headroom.

The F4 also came with a new range of options including a “Targa” style lift off roof, a low line rear spoiler and “Countach” style air intake boxes. The various kits, optional extras and choice of colours offered with the Sports model carried through to the PL30 and PL30/F4. A “full build” option for the PL30/F4 was available from 1977.
